I was sitting down to write a Happy Mother's Day post to you all and I was actually having quite a bit of trouble in what to write. You see, Mother's Day can be a wonderful happy day filled with flowers and brunches and gifts BUT it also can be a really tough day for a lot of people.
You could be missing your own mother because she has passed away, grieving the relationship that you wish you had with your mother but couldn't for some reason or, or maybe you didn't even know your mom. Also, there are a lot of couples out there who are frustrated with fertility, cannot get pregnant or having miscarriages yet it seems that wherever they look they see pregnant bellies and babies galore! Frustrating. And then there are those in throws of the child rearing years and sometimes, they just want one day without their kids to be alone and "off duty", or their kids are all grown up and they long for the days of feeling needed 24/7. So all in all, on this day of Mother's Day, we should celebrate all of the experiences we as women face whether challenging or heartwarming and the strength for going through this journey. And for you men out there supporting the women in your lives with love and empathy. So I am sending lots of love and strength to all women today. ~Dr.Laura
