Turmeric Latte

I have wanted to try this for a long time; turmeric has tremendous anti-inflammatory power that most of us can use for one health condition or the next. Turmeric is the spice that makes curry powder yellow and stain! Try it out for a different take on a nice hot beverage!

½ tsp vanilla
1 tsp turmeric
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ black pepper
½ ground ginger

Decadent Granola

I am so glad I found this recipe. I LOVE granola, whether it is for breakfast or for a snack, I could eat it all day everyday. It's tasty with yogurt, almond milk or just on it's own. And my kids are hooked too!  But it is hard to find a good granola that doesn't cost a small fortune that is also fairly healthy. A lot of them have tons of sugar added.  I found this recipe in the FRESH cookbook, adapted from the FRESH restaurants in Toronto, ON.  Enjoy! I have yet to make it for someone who hasn't LOVED it!

I love making these, freezing and having them in the morning, or for snacks when I feel like something sweet and carby or my kids are wanting them.  Just pop them in the toaster or toaster oven and they will ready in no time!

Vegan Pancakes
Ingredients:
2 tsp of baking powder

1 cup of flour (brown rice, wheat, or Bob’s Red Mill)

1 tbsp organic sugar

1 pinch of salt
1 cup of milk (almond or your choice of milk)
1 tbsp vinegar

Combine dry ingredients, then add the wet ingredients.

Make pancakes small, fry them up in coconut oil.
They freeze well, just freeze separately or with waxed paper in between them so they are easier to grab and put in the toaster oven for those hectic mornings!
Makes about 6-8 small pancakes.

I am super excited about these dishwasher tabs. They are made with ingredients that most people already, easy to make, and they are really INEXPENSIVE to make compared to buying the more natural brands of dishwasher tabs.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups Baking soda (cuts grease, great all-purpose cleaner)
  • 2 cups Borax (natural cleaner and disinfectant - found in most laundry sections of stores)
  • 1/2 cup Epsom salt (reduces the effects of hard water)
  • 1/2 cup vinegar (added cleaning power, liquid to help bind the ingredients)
  • 5 to 10 drops of your favourite  essential oil, such as lemon, teatree etc (added cleaning power, antibacterial properties, smells great!)
  • Ice cube trays (to put the mixture in)
  • Large bowl for mixing
Directions:
  • Place all ingredients in the bowl
  • Mix thoroughly, then transfer into the ice cube trays
  • Press each section of the tray down firmly, the more firmly packed it is, the easier the tab will pop out
  • You must let it dry for over 24 hours so it will pop out of tray easily

How to use:
  • Place in dishwasher detergent section
  • If you have HARD water you can also splash some vinegar or add a glass of 1/2 to 1 cup; in order to reduce cloudiness.
